Short answer

Propler helps buyers find Norwegian suppliers and subcontractors and check them before signing. You can describe what you need in AI search or filter the register yourself, then use free company pages to review status, roles, latest accounts and activity. It covers Norway only and supports your own assessment; it is not a credit rating or a supplier approval.

The problem: you need a supplier, not a sales pitch

When you need a supplier in Norway, you usually face two problems at once. First, finding companies that actually do what you need, in the right region, at the right size. Second, knowing whether a company is solid enough to rely on: is it active, who runs it, does it file accounts, and has it grown or shrunk?

Search engines favour companies with good marketing, not necessarily the best fit. Industry directories are often incomplete. Norway's public registers, on the other hand, list every registered company with its organisation number, industry code, address, legal form and status, and limited companies must file their annual accounts with Regnskapsregisteret, where the figures are public.

How supplier discovery works in Propler

You can start from either end:

  • Describe the need. In AI search you write what you need to buy, for example "electrical contractors in Trøndelag with 10 to 50 employees who do commercial buildings". The AI interprets the request, searches the register, reads accounts and websites of the best matches and explains why each one fits.
  • Filter yourself. In the free company search you choose industry group, county, municipality, legal form, status and employee range, and can require that the company has a website or contact information.

Then you open the company page of each candidate to check it.

Use cases

The examples are hypothetical.

Finding a local subcontractor for a construction project

A main contractor in Tromsø needs a ventilation subcontractor for a school project. It runs an AI search for "ventilation and HVAC installers in Troms with their own technicians" and gets a ranked list. On each company page it checks that the status is active, who sits on the board and as CEO, and whether the latest accounts show a company large enough for the job.

Replacing a supplier that has gone out of business

A food producer near Hamar loses its packaging supplier. Using the company search it filters for packaging manufacturers and wholesalers in Innlandet and neighbouring counties, active status only, and with a website. It then compares a handful of candidates on revenue, employee count and registration date before asking for quotes.

Checking a new partner before signing

An agency in Oslo is about to sign a framework agreement with a small production company. Before signing, it looks up the organisation number in the company search and reviews the company page: register facts, roles, connections to other companies, the latest annual accounts and the property registered at the address. This takes minutes and gives a factual starting point for questions to ask.

  • Free without login: company search and company pages, including the checks described above.

Limitations

  • Not a credit check. Propler shows register facts and the latest accounts. It does not give credit ratings, payment remarks or guarantees. For larger contracts, use a credit information provider and ask the supplier for documentation.
  • Accounts are not universal. Sole proprietorships only have to file accounts above certain size thresholds, so many small suppliers have no public figures.
  • Figures lag. Annual accounts describe the previous financial year and are filed months later.
  • Property owner is not shown. Propler links the address to land and title numbers; the owner is looked up at Kartverket.
  • No reviews. Customer reviews are not part of Propler today.
  • AI matches are suggestions. Check that a supplier really offers what you need before you rely on it.

Public tenders as a supplier signal

Companies that announce public tenders are buyers, and companies that win them are often suppliers you may want to work with. Propler shows tenders from TED, the EU's tender database, where the buyer is Norwegian. Doffin, Norway's national notice database, is where Norwegian contracting authorities must publish tenders above the EEA thresholds, and may publish smaller ones; Propler's Doffin integration is not live yet.
